Job Safety

How to recognize and avoid recruitment scams.

Never pay to get a job

Legitimate employers never charge fees for applications, training, equipment or background checks during hiring.

Protect your sensitive information

Do not share your Social Security Number, bank account, card numbers or online banking login during an initial application. Tax and payroll forms come only after a verified job offer.

Watch for red flags

Be careful with offers that come without an interview, ask you to deposit checks, buy gift cards, or move to private messaging apps right away.

Report suspicious listings

If something feels wrong, stop communicating and contact us. You can also report fraud to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
